The Golden Closet Newsletter/Blog April 16, 2009.

The Golden Closet recently acquired a screen used slip that was worn by legendary actress Marilyn Monroe in the film Niagara. After extensively researching the piece we also contacted several experienced collectors and expert researchers with our information to further confirm the item’s authenticity. This is what one of our vintage collectors Mr. Joe Davino had to say regarding our authentication:

“I did see the Marilyn documentation, it’s very well done, you really did a thorough job…I understand why you explained the alterations in such detail. Even though the label is clearly real with the correct production number and all, in the world of movie memorabilia Marilyn’s items are the most forged, so it was very smart to do the exhaustive authentication. This way anyone questioning it will be proven wrong. I didn’t doubt it for a moment. It’s a great piece.”

We also have available a vintage velvet frock coat that belonged to legendary performer Jim Morrison, lead singer of The Doors. The garment was made by Granny Takes A Trip and was personally given to one of our consignors by both Jim Morrison and Pamela Courson. This item will be featured in the upcoming Profiles in History auction to be held on May, 1st, 2009.
