This jacket and matching knickers were worn by actors Mickey Rooney and John Davidson respectively on an episode of "The Carol Burnett" show, which ran from 1967 - 1978. The wardrobe is constructed of red and white-checkered cotton and consists of a double-breasted jacket with red collar, lapels, cuffs, and trim, and a pair of matching knickers. The garments were custom made for the actor�s by Berman Costume Company of Hollywood and have the original tailoring labels sewn inside listing the actor's names.
The actors wore these garments in part of a comedy sketch shared with host Carol Burnett in Season 1, Episode 13 of the series, which aired on Dec. 11th, 1967. Ms. Burnett also wore a matching red and white-checkered skirt during the performance.
"The Carol Burnett Show" won numerous awards and nominations over the course of its impressive eleven seasons, including Emmy Awards for Outstanding Writing, Outstanding Directing, and Outstanding Comedy-Variety Series. Costume designer Bob Mackie was nominated for Outstanding Individual Achievement in the Visual Arts in 1969 for his work on the series.
