| This coat was worn by the character “Dalton Trumbo” portrayed by Bryan Cranston in the 2015 motion picture “Trumbo,” co-starring Helen Mirren and John Goodman. This vintage 1950’s Botany 500 brown sport coat with checkered pattern, notch lapel, one breast patch pocket, two button front closure, two lower flap pockets, two button cuff, and rear vent. Internal “Botany” 500 Brand Tailored by Daroff Buttery’s Montana label and yellow production tag with “Trumbo” handwritten. Attached is the production hold tag with “3852 LINE 7, Hold @ Eastern, 1. Dalton, Ch. 20, 45” and “TRUMBO” hand written on the verso.
Mr. Cranston wears this coat in multiple scenes, most notably when Dalton meets with “Edward G. Robinson” (Michael Stuhlbarg) and returns the money that Stuhlbarg gave to the defense fund.
“Trumbo” revolves around screenwriter Dalton Trumbo and the other “Hollywood Ten” artists that were blacklisted in the film industry for their political beliefs. Bryan Cranston was nominated for Best Actor at the 88th Academy Awards, and Helen Mirren was nominated for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role at the 73rd Golden Globe Awards.
