This exquisite silk matador vest was worn by Leo White as “Antonia” in, “Blood and Sand”, staring Rudolph Valentino. The delicate vest is decorated with intricate silver bullion, red faceted stones, sequins and silver bullion beaded fringe. Internal “PARAMOUNT WARDROBE 8” stamp in black ink and M3061 hand written in dark fountain pen. Both Rudolph Valentino’s suit of lights jackets sold through auction, had the “PARAMOUNT WARDROBE - 11” stamped in black ink and M3168 hand written in fountain pen. Leo wore this garment while in the arena with Rudolph Valentino.
The original silk material has faded, light staining on the back, and is fragile but in exceptional condition considering the garments age. Acquired directly from Paramount Studios wardrobe department and accompanied by a letter of authenticity from the costume house.
