This breastplate was worn by a background gladiator in the 2000 motion picture “Gladiator” starring Russell Crowe and Joaquin Phoenix. The breastplate is worn by Charioteer during the Charioteer Battle of Carthage scene, which is the first battle in the Coliseum.
Directed by Ridley Scott, the film stars Russell Crowe, Joaquin Phoenix, and Richard Harris. Russell Crowe won the 2001 Academy Award for Best Actor for his role in “Gladiator”, and the film also won Oscar’s for Best Picture, Best Costume Design, Best Effects and Best Sound. Accompanied by a letter of Authenticity from the costumer.
