This halberd was used by one of the “Tower Guard” background characters in the 1939 motion picture “Tower of London” starring Basil Rathbone and Barbara O’ Neil. The prop weapon is constructed of a hand painted wooden shaft with metal axe-head mounted on top and measures approx. 7 & ˝ feet long.
The halberd was used by one of the Tower Guards in numerous scenes throughout the film, and is in vintage screen used condition with evidence of wear from its use on the production.
“The Tower of London” also featured performances by film horror legends Boris Karloff and Vincent Price. Price later starred in Roger Corman’s 1962 remake in the lead role of Richard, Duke of Gloucester. Accompanied by a letter of authenticity.
