AN ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE
Dr. Thomas Stockmann (Steve McQueen)
Item # W0010
This vest was worn by the character "Dr. Thomas Stockmann," portrayed by legendary actor Steve McQueen, in the 1978 motion picture, "An Enemy Of The People." The period vest with welt pockets is constructed of black and brown cotton fabric with black trim and black cotton back with adjustable buckle strap. The interior of the vest has the original Western Costume Company label sewn inside with the name "Steve McQueen" clearly typed.
Mr. McQueen wore the vest in numerous scenes throughout the film. He first wore it at the beginning of the film when Dr. Stockmann gives his brother "Mayor Peter Stockmann" (Charles Durning) a physical exam before dining with friends. At dinner, Thomas reveals to his guests that he's discovered the mineral springs they've invested in have become tainted, unaware of the conflict his discovery will later trigger in the community.
The vest is in distressed vintage condition with a minor tear at the back of the neck that has evidence of prior repair. Accompanied by a letter of authenticity from the costume house.
