The two-piece purple wool knit suit was custom made specifically for Betty Grable by the respected costume designer William Travilla. The fitted jacket has a silk velvet asymmetrical collar, structured waistline, and silk lining. The bias of the skirt has a handwritten label "1-18-7-1114-A623-26 B Grable". The suit can be seen when Ms. Grable is descending on a stair case in the 20th Century Fox production of "Meet Me After The Show 1951".

Ms. Grable plays the part of “Delilah Lee,” a Broadway star whose marriage isn’t as faithful as she’d want it to be. She flees to Miami away from her cheating husband “Jeff Ames” played by MacDonald Carey. She plots to get back his attention and pretends to have amnesia, even going so far as to begin a romance with playboy “David Hemingway,” played by Rory Calhoun. Jeff gets jealous and heads down to Miami to seek out his wife, while she lures him on a happy pursuit back to her.

Directed by Richard Sale, the film features lavish wardrobe changes and elaborate musical numbers. This garment is in good screen worn condition with minor evidence of wear from its use on the production and is accompanied by a letter of authenticity.

Presented by The Golden Closet, your premier source for collectible screen used wardrobe, props, and music entertainment memorabilia.
