This costume was worn by the character “Driver” portrayed by actor Ryan Gosling in the 2011 motion picture “Drive”. The outfit consists of an off white quilted satin jacket with faux bloodstains on the sleeves and front, vintage 1930’s short sleeve white Henley shirt, pair of Acne blue jeans with faux bloodstains, pair of taupe Stacy Adams leather boots, and pair of brown leather driving gloves. The jeans, gloves, and jacket were custom made for the actor’s use on the production. The original costumer’s tags are attached listing assorted production notes.
Driver wore these garments in numerous scenes from the film. The boots were worn in scenes leading up to the action sequence in the hotel room where Driver is injured and fights the two thugs. The bloody pants were worn in subsequent scenes. The bloody jacket was designed without the embroidered Scorpion patch on the back for the actor’s comfort during driving and safety harness sequences. Faux blood was applied to it for exclusive use in driving scenes after Driver kills “Tan Suit” (Jeff Wolfe) in the elevator.
The shirt was dry-cleaned after its use on the film, and the other garments are in screen used distressed condition. The costume was acquired directly from the production company and is accompanied by a letter of authenticity.
