| This sundress was worn by the character “Summer” portrayed by actress Zooey Deschanel in the 2009 motion picture “(500) Days of Summer” also starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt. The vintage 1960’s halter-top sundress by Alex Colman of California is constructed of white and blue lightweight cotton with floral pattern design.
Ms. Deschanel wore the dress in the sequence where Summer meets up with her old romantic interest “Tom” (Gordon-Levitt) at a party after running into him at a co-worker’s wedding. Summer unintentionally rekindles Tom’s strong feelings for her, and a subsequent split-screen sequence shows the difference between Tom’s “Expectations” (of a romantic reunion with Summer) versus the more disappointing “Reality” of their interaction. Their evening together finally ends when Tom leaves after noticing Summer’s engagement ring. The actress also appeared wearing the garment in numerous promotional photos for the film.
“(500) Days Of Summer” was the Official Selection of the Sundance Festival when previewed in 2009. The film received numerous nominations and awards following its theatrical release, including two Golden Globe nominations for Best Motion Picture (Musical / Comedy) and Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture (Musical / Comedy) to Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Hope Hanafin received a nomination for Excellence in Costume Design from the Costume Designers Guild Awards, and actress Zooey Deschanel received a Satellite Award nomination for her outstanding performance in the film.
The garment is in good vintage condition and is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from the costume house.
