| This tuxedo jacket was worn by the character “Det. Sgt. Matthew Sykes” played by James Caan in the 1988 motion picture “Alien Nation” also starring Mandy Patinkin and Terence Stamp. The two-button black tuxedo jacket with satin lapels and slash pockets was custom made for Mr Caan. Internal Western Costume Company label with “ MOREINFO HERE # 2105-1. The bottom front closure button is missing.
Mr. Caan wore the tux jacket in the finale of the film when Sykes prepares to give away his daughter at her wedding. After his alien partner “Det. Samuel ‘George’ Francisco” (Patinkin) assists the injured detective with his tie, Sykes takes his daughter’s arm and walks her down the aisle toward the altar.
“Alien Nation” was a huge success with science fiction fans after its release in 1988 and won the Saturn Award for Best Science Fiction Film from the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Horror. The popularity lead to a TV series based on the movie, which ran from 1989 – 1990.
