This costume was worn by the character "June Carter" portrayed by actress Reese Witherspoon, in the 2005 biopic, "Walk the Line." The dress is an original vintage 1960’s mini dress constructed out of a woven gold and silver lame material. The dress can be viewed in the scene when June and Johnny Cash perform the song "Jackson" on stage during his "Johnny Cash Show" tour. The dress can also been seen after the show when together Cash and Carter walk through the hall to her Hotel room.
"Walk The Line" was based on the true story of the early life and career of Johnny Cash as he rose to Country Music fame amidst his struggle with drugs, women and music. The film stars Joaquin Phoenix, Reese Witherspoon, Ginnifer Goodwin and Robert Patrick. Reese Witherspoon won Best Actress at the Academy Awards and the film was nominated with four additional Oscars including Best Actor (Joaquin Phoenix) and Best Costume Design (Arianne Phillips). The outfit is in good vintage condition and are accompanied by a letter of authenticity from the costume house that provided them for use on the production.
