This 8” x 10” glossy black and white press photograph of The Beatles was taken onstage at the Maple Leaf Gardens arena in Toronto, Canada during The Beatles’ first North American tour. The photo of the foursome posing behind Ringo Starr’s drum kit on stage between their matinee and evening concerts on September 7th, 1964, was shot for the Toronto Telegram newspaper by photographer Joe Black.
The film-processed print was developed from the original negative, which, along with the rest of the Telegram’s archives, was acquired by the Toronto Sun after the Telegram closed in 1971. The original negatives from this photo session are now in such poor condition that direct prints can no longer be made, making this an extremely rare artifact from the most popular band in the history of Rock and Roll.
The photograph is in excellent condition and is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from The Golden Closet.
