This garment was worn by character “William Sylvanus Baxter” portrayed by actor Jackie Cooper in the 1940 feature film “Seventeen”. The black wool double breasted tuxedo tail coat with black silk faille notched lapel, six button closure, four button cuffs, two tail buttons, lined with black satin was originally made for Otto Kruger. The coat hung in Kruger’s closet in the film and was ultimately worn by Jackie Cooper. Internal “Roche and Pollock Hollywood Ltd.” label with “OTTO KRUGER 4-13-39 1301” typed.
Mr. Cooper wears this coat before his dinner date with a young lady, borrowing it from “Sylvanus Baxter” (Otto Kruger) in order to impress her. This garment is in excellent vintage condition, and is accompanied by a letter of authenticity.
