This prop pickax was used onscreen by the character “Three-Fingered Jack” played by actor L.Q. Jones in the 1998 motion picture “The Mask of Zorro” starring Anthony Hopkins and Catherine Zeta-Jones. The prop pickax is constructed of dense molded rubber that has been made to resemble aged wood and metal.
The actor used this prop in a pivotal scene from the film when the “Young Zorro” (played by Banderas) travels in disguise to the secret location of the El Dorado mine run by the villain “Don Rafael Montero” (played by Stuart Wilson). As Montero presents the mine to his guests, Zorro is surprised to see his old friend Three-Fingered Jack among the group of enslaved mine laborers. Jack berates Montero in front of the group and then used this pickax to send the mining cart he sits in down the tracks towards Montero and his evil sidekick “Captain Harrison Love” (played by Matt Letscher). As Three-Fingered Jack launches through the air at them while wielding the pickax over his head, Love shoots him in midair as Zorro watches helplessly.
The prop pickax is in very good screen used condition as seen in the film. Accompanied by a letter of authenticity.
