THE GREAT GATSBY – Jordan Baker (Lois Chiles) 1920’s wrap coat

This sensational 1920’s style beaded wrap coat with feathered collar was created for use by the character Jordan Baker portrayed by actress Lois Chiles in the 1974 motion picture “The Great Gatsby” starring Mia Farrow and Robert Redford. The costume was custom made for the actress by Barbara Matera Limited and has the original tailoring label sewn inside with the name “Miss Chiles” clearly typed. Although the costume was custom made for use by Ms. Chiles, the actress never appeared wearing the coat in the final edited version of the film. Ms. Farrow wore an extremely similar coat during a scene where she and her friends arrive at a party, and it’s possible that the director chose not to have both actresses appear in the same scene wearing nearly identical outfits (see images). This outfit was acquired directly from Paramount Pictures and is in excellent condition. Accompanied by a letter of authenticity. The Great Gatsby won two Academy Awards in in 1975, including one awarded to Theoni V. Aldredge for Best Costume Design on the production. Presented by The Golden Closet, your premiere source for screen used wardrobe, props, and entertainment memorabilia.
