THE GODFATHER PART II - Vito Corleone (Robert Deniro) two piece brown suit

This period style pinstriped suit was worn by the character Vito Corleone portrayed by legendary actor Robert DeNiro in Francis Ford Coppola’s 1974 motion picture epic “The Godfather Part II”, also starring Al Pacino, Robert Duvall, and Diane Keaton. The wool suit was custom tailored expressly for use by Mr. DeNiro by Western Costume Company, and both the jacket and pants are complete with the original costume company labels sewn inside with the name “Robert DeNiro”, sizing information, and made to order numbers “2931-1” clearly typed in black ink.

Mr. DeNiro wore the suit in a pivotal scene from the film in which a young Vito Corleone returns to his native Italy on a mission to avenge the murder of his father. Vito visits the estate of the man responsible for his father’s death, now an aging Don past his prime. On the balcony of the old man’s estate, Vito confronts the man under false pretenses and then plunges a knife into him while the Don’s bodyguards are otherwise occupied. He then makes a daring escape amidst a heated gunfight and escapes back to America to continue building the Corleone crime family into a powerful empire.

The Godfather Part II was based on Mario Puzo’s bestselling novel, and the film swept the 1975 Academy Awards with an astonishing six Oscars, including one for Mr. DeNiro in the category of Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal of Vito Corleone. Francis Ford Coppola won an Oscar for Best Director on the feature, and the film also received numerous nominations, including one for Best Actor to Al Pacino for his role as Michael Corleone, Vito’s son who eventually takes control of the Corleone crime family.

Both garments are in excellent screen worn condition and this artifact from motion picture history would make an impressive addition to any serious collection of film related memorabilia. The suit is accompanied by signed certification of authenticity. Presented by The Golden Closet, your premiere source for screen used wardrobe, props, and music entertainment memorabilia.
