Mr. Wayne had these hand-written cards ready to present to the crowds of fans that he encountered. He’d keep multiple ones ready in his pockets wherever he went, in case he hadn’t had time to stop and write an autograph for someone. Each card was hand-written and signed on the verso of his printed name saying, “Good-Luck, John Wayne”. The card is approximately 1 ˝” in height and 3 inches in length. This item is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.
The legend of John Wayne spans an incredible 50-year career, appearing in over 175 films, and performing in just about every Hollywood genre. In 1969, Mr. Wayne won an Academy Award for Best Actor in “True Grit” and his incredibly versatility is most highly praised for his performance in “The Searchers”. Posthumously, he was one of the very few people to be awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom as well as the Congressional Gold Medal. In his honor, the John Wayne Cancer Foundation was founded in 1985 by his children to bring courage, strength and education to cancer.
