This leather jacket was worn by one of the baseball team members in the 1984 motion picture, "The Natural." The jacket is constructed of navy blue wool, leather sleeves, custom embroidered Knights patch on the front left breast and stitched embroidery on the back. This leather jacket was one of 14 that were custom made and aged for use on the film. There were only three made for Mr. Redford and his stand-in. Twelve others were made for the rest of the team and due to budget constraints, the actors all shared the jackets.
The Knights baseball players can be seen wearing this jacket throughout various moments in the film when playing for the New York Knights. "The Natural," starring Robert Redford, Robert Duvall, Glenn Close, Kim Basinger, Wilford Brimley, and Robert Prosky, was nominated for four Academy Awards. It stands as one of the most beloved sports movies of all time and arguably the best baseball movie ever made.
