This cane was used by singer Rihanna in the video for her song “Rock Star 101”. The vintage wooden cane has a hand painted cast “Cobra Head” handle with brass collar beneath and a black rubber ferrule at the tip. Rihanna appeared holding the cane in several key shots in the first half of the video while performing the song against a cheetah print background. The Cobra handle of the cane can be clearly seen during a close up shot where she licks it suggestively.

“Rock Star 101” was the fifth song off Rihanna’s fourth studio album “Rated R”, which was released in 2009. The song featured a solo by legendary Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash and peaked at # 2 on the US Hot Dance Club Songs chart in addition to reaching # 24 in Australia. The video premiered on Vevo on May 25, 2010 and was directed by Rihanna’s longtime collaborator Melina Matsoukas, who directed her previous two videos for the songs “Hard” and “Rude Boy”. The stylized black and white video featured an appearance by Blink 182’s Travis Barker, and while Slash himself did not appear, Rihanna impersonated him in several scenes in the latter half of the video wearing his trademark style top hat and long hair.

The cane is in very good vintage condition with minor evidence of age and is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from the costume house that provided it for use on the production.
