This suit was worn by the character "Dr. Dick Solomon," portrayed by actor John Lithgow, in the hit television series, "3rd Rock From The Sun." The outfit consists of a gray three-piece double-breasted suit by John Stewart, a light blue collared dress shirt, and a set of four ties. The original costumer's "Hold" tag is attached with the series title "3rd Rock, Hold" and scene or production date numbers "11-14" handwritten in red ink.
Mr. Lithgow wears a similar suit in “Dick'll Take Manhattan” (Season 6 Episode 4), when Dick is an attorney in a parallel universe in New York City.
"3rd Rock From The Sun" received numerous awards and nominations over the course of its impressive six-year run, including Emmys for Outstanding Lead Actor (Comedy) for John Lithgow, Outstanding Supporting Actress (Comedy) for Kristen Johnston, and costume designer Melina Root was awarded Outstanding Costume Design for a Series in 1997 for her work on the production. This wardrobe was acquired directly from the studio after the series ended and is in very good screen worn condition. Accompanied by a letter of authenticity from the costume house.
