This County police uniform was worn by the character “Sheriff Tawes,” portrayed by legendary actor Gregory Peck, in the 1970 motion picture, “I Walk The Line.” The outfit consists of a brown wool blend zip front jacket with shoulder epaulettes, flap pockets on the breast, and a pair of matching pants. The garments were custom made for Mr. Peck’s use on the production by Acuna and have the original tailoring labels sewn inside with the name “Gregory Peck” and production dates “9/69” and “/69” (sic) clearly typed. The original “Jenkins County Sheriff” shoulder patches were replaced with “County Police” patches for use in a subsequent unidentified production.

Mr. Peck first wore the jacket and pants in the scene where Sheriff Tawes visits the McCain family after starting an affair with their daughter Alma (Tuesday Weld) and demands that they stop brewing moonshine before any more federal investigators return. He wore the pants with and without the jacket in numerous subsequent scenes from the film.

Both garments are in good vintage screen worn condition and are accompanied by a letter of authenticity. Presented by The Golden Closet, your premier source for iconic screen used wardrobe, props, and collectible music entertainment memorabilia.
