This U.S. military uniform was worn by the character Capt. Sam Cahill portrayed by actor Toby Maguire in the 2009 motion picture “Brothers” starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Natalie Portman. Mr. Maguire wore this uniform in multiple scenes throughout the film, which depicted the emotional story of Capt. Cahill’s family’s attempt to deal with his assumed death in Afghanistan and then his unexpected return.
The outfit consists of desert camouflage jacket, matching pants with green nylon web belt, knit cap, and boots splattered with faux blood. The jacket is complete with the character name strip “Cahill”, “U.S. Army” on the breast, and military insignia lapel pins as seen in the film. Both the fatigue jacket and pants have the actor’s initials “T.M.” handwritten on internal labels and the belt has “Maguire” written in black ink. The costume is in good distressed condition and is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from the costume house.
