This prop police scanner was used by the character “Driver” portrayed by actor Ryan Gosling in the 2011 motion picture “Drive”. The Uniden BCD396XT handheld digital scanner was a key piece of Driver’s equipment used when performing his “getaway” jobs.
While not clearly seen in the opening sequence of the film, its use is implied when Driver performs his first heist job and listens to the police band frequency while assisting two robbers in their escape. The scanner was used in later driving action sequences and can be clearly seen inside of Driver’s stolen Mustang GT during the sequence where he assists “Standard” (Oscar Isaac) and “Blanche” (Christina Hendricks) in attempting a heist at the pawnshop.
