This police shirt was worn by James Best as “Sheriff Rosco P. Coltrane” in the classic television series “The Dukes of Hazzard” 1979-1985”. The light blue cotton long sleeve uniform shirt has dark blue flap pockets and epaulets, Hazzard County Sherriff and American Flag shoulder patches. The garment shows significant signs of wear and dirt is visible on the back, collar, and cuffs of the shirt. This style of uniform shirt was only worn by the Sherriff, Rosco P. Coltrane. The deputies' uniform shirts were monochromatic whereas the Sheriff shirts had dark blue pocket flaps and epaulets. The cotton-blend uniform shirts were used in the earlier seasons. In later seasons and the reunion shows, the costumers switched to a French blue open weave polyester blend uniform shirt, which is visible on camera.

Sherriff Rosco Coltrane (James Best) appeared in 141 of 146 episodes on the entire series run, as the right-hand man of Hazzard County's corrupt county commissioner, Jefferson Davis "Boss Hogg" (Sorrell Booke). James Best recently passed away on April 6, 2015.

The garment is in screen used good condition with minor evidence of wear from its use on the series and is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from the costume house.

“The Dukes of Hazzard” gained immense popularity during its six-year run and remains a television comedy classic. The series was nominated for an Emmy in 1984 for “Outstanding Individual Achievement” to the show’s costumers, Bob Christenson and Hope Slepak.
