This red satin and white organza dress with red ribbon trim was worn by a background character in the made for television movie that spawned the hit television series Buck Rogers In The 25th Century. The original movie was later split into the first two episodes of the series' first season. This garment was worn in several scenes of the movie / pilot episodes during the sequence where the Earth Directorate throws a formal dance in honor of the nefarious Draconian Princess Ardala (portrayed by actress Pamela Hensley), whose favor the Directorate hopes to win in order to establish a trade route agreement with her people. The gown was worn by one of the formal choreographed dancers attending the ball, all of whom are a bit thrown when recently thawed Earthman Buck Rogers (portrayed by actor Gil Gerard) convinces the Princess to break convention and dance old Earth style with him. There is an interior label sewn inside with the name Janice Morgan clearly written, which may be the name of the actress who wore it in the production or may have been added later for use in a separate production. The garment is in very good screen worn condition and is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from the costume house.
