This custom tailored wool sport coat was worn by the character “Joe Mannix” portrayed by Mike Connors in the hit crime drama “Mannix”, 1967-1975. The dark blue coat has narrow notched lapels, three flap pockets, and two gold button front closure. The interior of the coat is lined in an elegant red and dark blue striped silk fabric. Internal “Custom Tailored by Peppino Los Angeles Formal Wear” label and label with “Mr. M. Conners Date 11-17-67” typed in black ink.

Mr. Connors wears this sports coat throughout Season 1 Episode 19 “You Can Get Killed Out There”. In the episode, Mannix quits working for Intertect and strikes out on his own. His first independent case involves a young woman, Marcie (played by Marianna Hill). She’s looking for answers after her husband loses his memory following a boxing match.

“Mannix” was considered one of the most violent television shows of its era and its popularity was evident with audiences- running for eight seasons. Produced by Desilu Productions, “Mannix” was the last show the company work on. The show and the lead actors, Mike Connors and Gail Fisher, are Primetime Emmy Award and Golden Globe award winners. Mike Connors later reprised his role of “Joe Mannix” on an episode of “Diagnosis Murder” titled “Hard-Boiled Murder” (1997).

The coat is in excellent vintage screen worn condition and is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from the costume house.
