This costume was worn by the character “James Early” portrayed by actor Eddie Murphy in the 2006 motion picture “Dreamgirls”, starring Jamie Foxx, Beyonce Knowles and Jennifer Hudson. The two-piece, made-to-order sharkskin suit has a one-button closure, black faille lapel, and matching pants with black faille side stripe on each side. The white tuxedo shirt with French cuff was custom made by “Venice Custom Shirt Makers” and includes a “Dec 05” label. Mr. Murphy wore this costume in scene 75 when Jimmy Thunder and the Dreamettes perform “Steppin’ To The Bad Side”.
"Dreamgirls," adapted from the Broadway production of the same name, follows the story of the history and evolution of American R&B music during the 1960s and 1970s through the eyes of a girl group known as "The Dreams." The film was nominated for eight Academy Awards, including a Best Supporting Actor nomination for Eddie Murphy.
