This shirt was worn by the character "Sgt. Alvinia T. Plout" portrayed by Vicki Lawrence in the classic television show “Laverne and Shirley”, 1976-1983. The vintage red and white gingham “Cowboy Bills” uniform shirt has opalescent buttons and navy piping along the yolk. The seams were let out to allow room for the pregnancy pillow Ms. Lawrence wore on screen.

Vicki Lawrence wore this shirt in Season 8 Episode 13 “The Baby Show” in which her character “Sgt. Alvinia T. Plout is discharged from the Army for being pregnant. She lands on Laverne’s doorstep for help, single, and without a job. Laverne convinces her father to hire “Alvinia” to waitress at “Cowboy Bills” until she figures out what her next move will be.

“The Baby Show” was Vicki Lawrence’s 5th and final appearance on “Laverne and Shirley.” Four days after this show aired, Vicki Lawrence’s show “Mama’s Family” aired and became an instant hit.

“Laverne and Shirley” was nominated for four Golden Globes over the course of its seven-year run, and costume designer Al Lehman received an Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Costume Design For a Series in 1979.

The costume is in good vintage screen worn condition and is accompanied by a letter of authenticity.
