This futuristic black and grey tunic and matching skirt were worn by one of the background guards in the seminal 1956 sci-fi motion picture The Mole People. The costume is constructed of a thick black and grey woven cotton fabric with a geometric pattern, and is in good overall condition with clearly visible traces of the red chest insignia, which bears a curious similarity to the chest chevrons that later appeared in the original Star Trek television series. Both garments have pieces of wool braiding sewn to the bottom. Comes complete with the original Western Costume Company label with “Officers” clearly typed. Accompanied by a letter of authenticity from the costume house.
