This costume was worn by singer Katy Perry in her music video for the hit song “I Kissed A Girl”. The outfit consists of a vintage gold lamé dress with accordion pleated skirt by Alix of Miami, wide black belt with oversized gold buckle, and a vintage faux tortoiseshell fan with pink lace. This outfit was Ms. Perry’s signature costume worn throughout the majority of the video, and she can be seen playing with the fan in multiple scenes while performing the song.
“I Kissed a Girl” was the lead single off of Perry’s 2008 release “One Of The Boys” and topped the Billboard Hot 100 Chart for seven consecutive weeks, becoming the 100th chart-topper of the Rock Era. The song topped the charts in over 20 countries, including Australia, Canada, Ireland, and the United Kingdom. The song was nominated for a Grammy for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance and was performed by the singer at the 51st Grammy Awards. In an interesting side note, a limited edition “I Kissed A Girl” Katy Perry doll wearing this exact dress was also issued by Integrity Toys following the song’s success.
The dress and fan are in vintage condition as seen in the video with some evidence of age, and are accompanied by a letter of authenticity from the costume house that provided the items to Ms. Perry.
