These garments were worn by the character “Petty Officer Doris ‘Dorie’ Miller” portrayed by Cuba Gooding Jr. in the 2001 Jerry Bruckheimer production, “Pearl Harbor”. The WWII era U.S. Navy Enlisted Utility hat and white web belt with metallic buckle are distressed with faux movie blood and oil. Production hold tag attached with “Pearl Harbor Costume Department HOLDS” stamped, character name, scene info, and costume info hand written.

Cuba wore these costume pieces in the scene when the Japanese bomb the “USS West Virginia” in Pearl Harbor. Mr. Gooding’s character was based on the true-life story of Doris Miller, who was a Mess Attendant, Third Class aboard the West Virginia when the attack on Pearl Harbor occurred and later received a Navy Cross for his acts of valor during the battle.

The costume pieces were hand distressed by costumers for use in the battle sequence and are in good screen used condition. The items were acquired directly from the costume house that provided it to the production and is accompanied by a letter of authenticity.

“Pearl Harbor” won an Oscar for Best Sound Editing in 2002 and received numerous other nominations including Best Effect, Visual Effects, Best Music, Original Song, and Best Sound. The film featured an all-star cast including Ben Affleck, Kate Beckinsale, Josh Hartnett, Alec Baldwin, and Jon Voight.
