This costume change was worn by the character Daniel Plainview portrayed by actor Daniel Day-Lewis during his Oscar winning performance in the 2007 motion picture epic THERE WILL BE BLOOD. This signature costume change from the film consists of a salt and pepper hand woven three-piece suit and an oatmeal cotton work shirt with patch pockets. Mr. Day-Lewis wore this outfit in several pivotal scenes including the opening sequence when Daniel tries to persuade a small town with an erupting oil well to sell him the rights to the land, in a later scene when he abandons his deaf son on the train, and during the highly charged speech he delivers prior to drilling on the Sunday Ranch for the first time. These garments were custom made for the actor by American Costume Company and are in good hand distressed condition as seen in the film. Daniel Day-Lewis won the 2007 Academy Award for Best Actor for his performance in the film. Accompanied by a letter of authenticity from the costume house.
