This tuxedo style jacket, Henley t-shirt and silk pants were worn by the character "Detective James Crockett," portrayed by Don Johnson, in the highly acclaimed television series, "Miami Vice." The off-white deconstructed jacket is constructed of silk blend by “Men Go Silk”, with a notch lapel, two patch pockets, and rolled cuff. The original costumers label with “Crock” handwritten is located inside the left breast pocket. The Henley is constructed of fine pastel peach cotton, with short sleeves and a three button front placket, and the silk pants were made by “the 24 Collection.”
Mr. Johnson can be seen wearing the Henley t-shirt in eight episodes throughout Seasons 1 and 2, and in a flashback in a Season 4 episode. While the tuxedo jacket can be seen in episode “Vote of Confidence” (Season 4, Episode 13). In this particular episode, Crockett wears the jacket when investigating a gubernatorial candidate arrested during a whorehouse bust. It’s seen when speaking with a District Attorney and later at a bar when speaking with a journalist. The silk pants are worn in “Stone’s War” (Season 3, Episode 2) while Crockett is relaxing and fishes on his boat.
Crockett’s costume rule was set by costume designer Jody Tillian. Each outfit was comprised of a three button jacket with rolled sleeves, silk or linen pant, and a Henley or Deep V t-shirt. Always utilizing a three way pastille color palette which included various shades of pink, peach, grey, white and the pants were yellow, blue, or green. The jacket is in distressed vintage condition with some scuffing, yellowing and water stains due to age and use on production, as well as the silk pants, while the Henley is in excellent condition.
