This live firing Sig 229 pistol (Serial # AL43862) was used by the character “Evelyn Salt” portrayed by actress Angelina Jolie in the 2010 motion picture “Salt” also starring Liev Schreiber. Ms. Jolie used this weapon in several scenes set in the “President’s Emergency Operations Center” (PEOC), and most notably in the film’s final climactic battle sequence between Evelyn and Ted Winter (Liev Schreiber). This gun was also the primary weapon used by the character “Peabody” (Chiwetel Ejiofor) throughout the film.

Ms. Jolie wore this gun in her waistband when Salt maneuvers down an elevator shaft in pursuit of Winter, and in several scenes while running through the hallways of the PEOC. After Winter kills the other agents, kidnaps the President and locks him inside of the sealed PEOC chamber, Evelyn unsuccessfully uses this Sig and machine gun to shoot her way through the room’s bulletproof glass. She then notices an electronic door lock mechanism on the far wall behind Winter and uses a machine gun to shoot through the wall to open the door. Evelyn leaps into the room and ducks for cover after firing three rounds from this Sig pistol while in midair, then empties the rest of her clip before engaging in hand to hand combat with Winter. For safety purposes, this gun was set up to fire “quarter loads” to reduce the risk of injury to Ms. Jolie and Mr. Schreiber during the action sequences.

In an interesting side note, it was during the filming of the final battle sequence that Ms. Jolie sustained a minor injury on the set, which was extensively covered by the media. The accident occurred during the scene where she leaps into the room firing the gun, and the actress accidentally struck her head on the desk Evelyn was meant to take cover behind. Ms. Jolie was immediately rushed to the hospital and the crew continued shooting numerous POV shots for the sequence in her absence until she returned later that evening to continue filming the action sequence. The on set armorer also stood in for Ms. Jolie in several shots to help Liev Schreiber establish a realistic eye line during filming, and in an additional scene where a gun had to be fired in order to create a muzzle flash at the edge of the camera frame. The gun is in good screen used condition as seen in the film and is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from the armorer and a copy of the rental records.

THE WEAPON CANNOT FIRE LIVE AMMUNITION AND HAS BEEN MODIFIED TO FIRE BLANKS ONLY.
