This custom-made dress with cream satin bodice and peplum hand beaded with lavender glass beads and pearls, and attached lavender tulle skirt was worn by the character Emmadel Jones portrayed by actress Jane Wyman in Frank Capra’s 1951 motion picture “Here Comes The Groom” starring Bing Crosby and Alexis Smith. Ms. Wyman wore the dress in the sequence where Emmadel dons the dress in her room at her wealthy fiance’s house, and then comes downstairs to the living room only to discover that her old flame Peter Garvey (played by Crosby) has been hired to work on the estate and then runs out across the grounds to confront him at his living quarters. The skirt was shortened for use in a later production (after possible damage to the hemline occurred during filming of Emmadel’s flight across the estate) and the original Paramount Atelier label and “Paramount Ladies Wardrobe Department” stamp are both intact in the dress’s interior. “Here Comes The Groom” won an Oscar for Best Music in 1952. Accompanied by a letter of authenticity. Presented by The Golden Closet, your premiere source for screen used wardrobe, props, and music entertainment memorabilia.

This costume was worn on screen with Golden Closet Item C0127 (see photos, above).
