1970’s dress shirt
Item # D0819
NEW FEATURED ITEM
This shirt was worn by the character “Scott Thorson” played by actor Matt Damon in the 2013 award-winning HBO movie “Behind the Candelabra.” The original 1970’s tan striped polyester long sleeve shirt with brown and blue abstract patterns has the costumers ‘Hold’ tag attached with, “Behind The Candelabra ‘Scott’ Change #22, Shirt” hand written.
Mr. Damon can be seen wearing the shirt beneath a suit jacket as Scott removes Liberace’s toupee prior to his plastic surgery operation. Liberace is complaining that he has to remove it and jokes that if he dies, Scott needs to rush in and glue it back on his head before anyone sees him. The shirt is later seen again after the surgery as Scott wheels Liberace out of the hospital and he’s completely bandaged around the face.
“Behind the Candelabra” starring Michael Douglas, Matt Damon, Scott Bakula, Rob Lowe and Debbie Reynolds follows the last ten years of the life of Liberace and the secret affair he had with Scott Thorson. The film, directed by Academy-award winner Steven Soderbergh, is based on Thorson’s memoir, Behind the Candelabra: My Life with Liberace (1988). The film garnered 15 Emmy nominations and went on to win 11 including “Outstanding Miniseries or Movie,” “Outstanding Director,” Outstanding Costumes for a Movie or Miniseries,” and “Best Actor” for Michael Douglas.
The suit is in excellent vintage condition and is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from the costume house.
