This prop magazine was made for the 1984 motion picture “The Natural” starring Robert Redford, Robert Duvall and Glenn Close. This “Baseball Magazine” was custom fabricated for the production but was ultimately not used in the final version of the film. The prop magazine includes original 1930’s advertisements and articles. The cover artwork is of “Bump Bailey” (Michael Madsen), titled “Baseball Magazine” and “Bump Bailey” “The National League’s Leading Hitter” and “His Life in the Cellar” on the bottom.
The Natural was nominated for four Academy Awards in 1985, including Best Cinematography, Best Art Direction Set Decoration), Best Music (Original Score), and Best Actress in a Supporting Role to Glenn Close for her outstanding performance in the film.
