This Police Badge was worn by “Ricardo ‘Rico’ Tubbs,” portrayed by actor Philip Michael Thomas in the highly acclaimed televisionshow, “Miami Vice.” The series ran for five seasons from 1984-1989 starring Don Johnson as his partner “James ‘Sonny’ Crockett.” The badge is molded out of metal with a faux gold plating. Inscribed on the badge is “Sergeant - Sheriff’s Office - Dade County FLA, Deputy Sheriff FLA” with the crest of Florida and the words “In God We Trust.”
Mr. Thomas can be seen wearing this badge throughout the series, most notably in investigative and Police Station scenes, such as during an interrogation in Season 2 Ep 15 ”By Hooker by Crook” and during an investigation of a dead body in Season 3 Ep 20, “Little Miss Dangerous.”
“Miami Vice” was produced by Michael Mann for NBC, and was noted for it’s strong combination of new wave culture and music, which became a benchmark for the MTV generation and influence on the fashion world. The series won several awards including an Emmy for Best Art Direction and a Golden Globe for Don Johnson as Best Actor in a Television Series. The badge is in very good screen used condition and is accompanied by a letter of authenticity.
