This windbreaker was custom made for and worn by Frank Sinatra’s personal costumer and longtime friend, Mr. Michael Castellano. The jacket is constructed of a brown satin material with orange and white striped cuffs, matching waistband, orange snap buttons, and bears a custom patch on the left breast. The back of the jacket has Sinatra’s personal phrase “Living Well Is The Best Revenge, F.T.A.” embroidered in orange.

This windbreaker was part of a limited edition run designed by the entertainer specifically for wear by his closest friends and entourage. The phrase on the back was one of Mr. Sinatra’s personal sayings, and the “F.T.A.” at the bottom was an abbreviation for “Fuck Them All”, showing the performer’s inimitable personality and brash sense of humor. Mr. Sinatra had a limited series of custom lapel pins based on the patch design made, which were also given to members of his entourage. Wearing either the jacket or one of the pins provided Frank’s friends with virtual “all access passes” at casinos and hotels he frequented, and also guaranteed special treatment in the city of Palm Springs where his “Twin Palms” estate was located. The embroidered F.T.A. jackets were also specifically mentioned in Anthony Summers’ Sinatra biography “Sinatra: The Life” as being worn by Sinatra’s close friend and personal confidante “Jilly” Rizzo and other members of his entourage.

This garment was acquired directly from Michael Castellano, who began working with the entertainer in 1976 after replacing Sinatra’s previous personal aid, Eddie Fitzsimmons. Mr. Castellano quickly became Sinatra’s “right hand man” and performed numerous duties for Mr. Sinatra while maintaining his stage and personal wardrobe collection.

Mr. Castellano received this garment as a personal gift from Sinatra prior to leaving his service in 1981, and retained the item in his possession since that time. The interior of the jacket has Mr. Castellano’s initials “M.C.” handwritten and the garment is in very good condition with minor evidence of age. Accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Mr. Castellano.
