This period western style dress was designed by legendary designer Edith Head and worn by featured production dancer Joan Dean in the 1954 motion picture musical “Red Garters”. The outfit consists of a sheer blouse with puffed sleeves and a blue and pink plaid bodice with matching ¾ length bustle skirt. Ms. Dean appears performing in the costume in numerous musical dance sequences throughout the film, and all three garments are complete with the original Paramount Pictures production labels sewn inside with the name “Joan Dean” handwritten in slightly faded ink. “Red Garters” was nominated for a 1954 Academy Award for Best Art Direction. The costume is in good screen worn condition with some significant evidence of age and discoloration on the sheer blouse and is accompanied by a letter of authenticity. Presented by The Golden Closet, your premiere source for screen used wardrobe, props, and music entertainment memorabilia.

This costume was worn on screen with Golden Closet Item MU0029 (see last photo, above).
