This dress is worn by “Grace Faraday” played by actress Emma Stone in the 2013 film “Gangster Squad.” The garment is an original 1940’s saddle tan wool day dress with textured polka dot print and self-belt.
Ms. Stone can be seen wearing this dress when a furious Mickey Cohen (Sean Penn) breaks apart his home suspecting that there is an informant or bug assisting the Gangster Squad. She flees Cohen’s home in fear for her life and meets with Jerry Wooters (Ryan Gosling) at a restaurant to warn him of Cohen’s suspicions. Jerry takes her to his childhood friend Jack Whalen (Sullivan Stapleton) encouraging them to leave the city, but Cohen gets to Jack first before they can leave and kills him. Grace sees the murder and becomes the key witness that puts Mickey Cohen behind bars.
Directed by Ruben Fleischer, Gangster Squad stars Josh Brolin, Ryan Gosling, Nick Nolte, Emma Stone and Sean Penn. Based loosely on the actual Los Angeles Gangster Squad unit of the 1940s and 1950s, this film is about a group of LAPD officers and detectives who fight to rid the city of Mickey Cohen’s criminal empire.
