This mini-dress was worn by legendary supermodel “Twiggy” in “The Sonny and Cher Show”, which ran from 1976 – 1977. The dress by Elizabeth Courtney Costumes of Hollywood is constructed of blue and white polka dotted acetate satin with white lace trim, and a black velvet bodice with Empire waistline. The interior of the dress has the original costumer’s label sewn inside and an additional label with “Twiggy” handwritten in slightly faded black ink.
Twiggy wore the dress in Episode 10 of Season 2 of the hit show, which aired on Nov. 28th, 1976. She appeared in matching costume dress alongside host Cher while performing the “Little Girl Who Had A Little Curl In The Middle Of Her Forehead” musical skit.
“The Sonny and Cher Show” was nominated for three Primetime Emmys over the course of its two year run, including a nomination for Outstanding Achievement in Costume Design for Music / Variety to award-winning costume designers Ret Turner and Bob Mackie.
