This non-firing replica Smith & Wesson 36 was used by the character “Uncle Junior” portrayed by actor Dominic Chianese in the award winning series “The Sopranos”. Mr. Chianese utilized the weapon in “Members Only” (Season 6, Episode 1) during the pivotal cliffhanger ending when Junior walks downstairs in a fit of dementia and shoots his nephew "Tony Soprano" (James Gandolfini) in the gut, leaving him to pass out on the kitchen floor while attempting to dial 911.
The shooting of Tony by Uncle Junior in the first episode of the sixth season was one of the most shocking and talked about plot twists in the course of the series’ eleven year run and is perhaps one of the best remembered moments for hard core fans of “The Sopranos”.
The actual blank firing weapon used in the scene was a Rossi 36 but for the actor’s safety this nearly identical Smith & Wesson replica was used in separate parts of the sequence when a live firing weapon wasn’t necessary. The prop has a working trigger and the circular chamber is removable. This replica weapon will be accompanied by certification and a copy of the rental records issued by the entertainment armorer who supplied the weapons to the production. The faux gun is in good screen used condition.
