This costume was worn by the character "Mrs. Walters " portrayed by actress Sissey Spacek, in the 2011 feature film "The Help." The original 1960's camel swing coat is constructed of a beige wool blend material, oversized lapel, fox fur cuffs, and button neck closure. Ms. Spacek can be scene wearing the coat in the beginning of the film while preparing to leave the Walters home. Minnie the maid explains to Mrs. Walters that it is 98 degrees out and removes the swing coat Mrs. Walters is wearing. Mrs. Walters responds by saying, “well then let’s put my coat on”, establishing her character’s dementia. The garment is in excellent screen worn condition and is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from the costume house that provided them for use on the production.
