This tie was worn by the character “Frank King” portrayed by John Goodman in the 2015 motion picture “Trumbo,” starring Bryan Cranston and co-starring Helen Mirren. The early 1950’s vintage brown and salmon silk tie with basket weave and diagonal white bird pattern has slight fading due to age. Attached is the production hold tag with “4113, Hold @ Eastern, #18 Frank King, Sc 140, Ch. 3” and “TRUMBO” written on the verso. Worn in the dinner scene with “Dalton Trumbo” (Bryan Cranston) and “Hymie King” (Stephen Root), as they discuss possible blacklisted writers who can assist Dalton.
“Trumbo” revolves around screenwriter Dalton Trumbo and the other “Hollywood Ten” artists that were blacklisted in the film industry for their political beliefs. Bryan Cranston was nominated for Best Actor at the 88th Academy Awards, and Helen Mirren was nominated for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role at the 73rd Golden Globe Awards.
