This 2 piece suit was worn by the character Dr. Heywood Floyd (Roy Scheider) in the 1984 motion picture “2010”. The suit was custom made for Mr. Scheider, and is constructed out of a heavy blue cotton material. Jacket interior label Western Costume Co “Roy Schieder2996-I” (Sic) clearly typed; interior pant waistband Western Costume Co label with “Roy Scieder 2996-2”(Sic) clearly typed.
Mr. Scheider wears the pants in the scene where he gives Dr. Walter Curnow (John Lithgow) the circuit to embed into the HAL computer incase of an emergency. The jacket and pants were made to be worn together, but the jacket was ultimately not used in the film. “2010” is a sequel to “2001: A Space Odyssey”, a joint American-Soviet expedition is sent to Jupiter to discover what went wrong with the U.S.S. Discovery. These garments are in excellent condition and is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from the costume house.
