This Smith & Wesson 5946 pistol was used by the character Silvio Dante, portrayed by Steve Van Zandt, in the award winning HBO series “The Sopranos”.
Mr. Van Zandt can bee seen firing the weapon in “Fun house” (Season 2, Episode 13) during the pivotal sequence that take place onboard Tony’s yacht, The Stugots. After learning that “Big Pussy” Bonpensiero has been wearing a wire and supplying information about the Sopranos family to federal agents, Tony Soprano (James Gandolfini) is forced to eliminate one of his own captains. Tony, Silvio, and Paulie invite Big Pussy out on the yacht where they accuse him of ratting out the family. In an emotionally charged scene, Tony confronts Big Pussy for his betrayal and tries to learn what information Pussy has been providing to the Fed’s. After the brief interrogation the four share a final round of tequila and then open fire killing Big Pussy. The mobsters remove his jewelry and throw his weighted body overboard before heading back to the marina. “Big Pussy” Bonpensiero was one of the most popular principle characters in the series, and this landmark episode shocked Sopranos fans across the world. The publicity image of Tony, Silvio, and Paulie aiming their guns at Big Pussy is featured on the Season Two DVD Box Set.
