This red and gray cloth robe was an original prototype created for use by Michael Jackson’s “Heal The World” charity organization and was later worn by one of the background performers at Michael Jackson’s legendary Super Bowl XXVII Half Time Show in 1993. The robe was worn during the climactic ending of the performance as Jackson sang “Heal The World” while surrounded by throngs of people in assorted civilian and costume dress.
Mr. Jackson’s Super Bowl XXVII Half Time Show is still considered one of the greatest half time performances of all time and featured a 26-piece, 12-ton stage assembled by a 275-person crew in three minutes and 48 seconds. It also featured a 750-member drill team, assorted dancers and pyrotechnics, full choir, and an elaborate card stunt involving 102,000 spectators.
The “one size fits all” adjustable tasseled short sleeve robe with matching sash belt features a large full color embroidered “Heal The World” logo on the back and is complete with the original “Dennis Tompkins & Michael Bush” custom tailor’s label sewn inside. The robe also has “R #7” and “-P26” handwritten inside, which was most likely related to the performer’s placement during the half time performance. The garment is in excellent condition and is accompanied by a letter of authenticity.
