This vintage two-piece suit was worn by the character “Herbert Rossoff” AKA “Quark” portrayed by actor Armin Shimerman in the television series “Star Trek: Deep Space 9”, which ran from 1993-1999. The Rayon suit consists of a two-button jacket with patch pockets and matching pair of cuffed pants. Internal wardrobe label “Deep Space Nine Armin” handwritten in black ink.

Mr. Shimerman wore this outfit in Season 6 Episode 13 “Far Beyond the Stars” during a staff meeting, where they discuss “Benny” (Avery Brooks), an African American, and how America is not ready for a non-white writer. In this episode, “Captain Sisko” (Avery Brooks) has a vision from the Prophets, set in America in the early 1950s. In the vision, he sees himself as “Benny Russell,” an African American science fiction writer for the Incredible Tales magazine. During the vision Benny writes a story about an African American commander of a futuristic space station. The editor chooses not to publish the story explaining that an African American space commander is unrealistic.

SHIRT AND TIE HAVE BEEN ADDED FOR DISPLAY PURPOSES ONLY AND ARE NOT INCLUDED WITH THE SALE OF THIS ITEM.

“Star Trek: Deep Space 9” received numerous nominations and wins from the Prime Time Emmy Awards over the course of its six-year run, including a nomination for “Outstanding Costume Design for a Series” to costumer Robert Blackman for his outstanding work on the episode “Far Beyond the Stars”.
